Five time Academy Award winner Francis Ford Coppola resided at this property while filming his movie Tetro, released in 2009. The filmmaker was enchanted by the house, the neighborhood and Buenos Aires and decided to share this unique experience with travelers from around the words. Be Jardín Escondido by Coppola offers guest a stylish and inviting retreat in the heart of one of Buenos Aires’s most desirable neighborhoods.

Unique and with personality

The property features seven unique suites, many of which are named after Francis and his family. Each suite is designed to offer comfort in a stylish setting.

 

Francis Suite
This apartment’s called Francis Ford Coppola as it was the suite where the filmmaker slept while he lived in Palermo. The closet has a chest where Francis kept the filming equipment.
The filmmaker lived in Buenos Aires for two years, while recording Tetro, which was released in 2009. Francis Ford Coppola received several Oscar nominations and won the award five times.

Ellie Suite
Located in the reserved garden house, next to the filmmaker’s room, was the suite where Eleanor would sleep when Francis had to work till late.
In 1991, Eleanor directed a documentary reporting the difficulties that the team went through in order to record Apocalypse Now, Coppola’s film. This documentary “Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse ‘ won several awards, including an Emmy. Eleanor also wrote books, including Notes on a Life, where she writes about their family’s life, available in the library.

Roman Suite
This was Roman Coppola’s room, Francis and Eleanor’s son, he slept in the suite when he came to Buenos Aires to visit his parents, as they lived in Palermo for two years.
Roman is a music video director in the United States, directing clips for Green Day, The Strokes, Daft Punk, Fat Boy Slim, among others. In 2012, Roman Coppola and Wes Anderson won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, with Moonrise Kingdom.

Sofia Suite
This suite belonged to Sofia Coppola who, as her father, was also a filmmaker and screenwriter. She often went to Buenos Aires with her daughter Romy, while visiting her parents.
Sofia acted in some of Coppola’s films, and was a model and successful filmmaker. She has already directed and written several films.
In 2003, she won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, with Lost in Translation, as well as becoming the first woman to be nominated to the Oscar for Best Director and won a Golden Lion-top prize from the Venice Film Festival.

Bolaño Suite
This suite honors the Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño. A character from his work ‘ Noturno do Chile ‘, inspired Francis while creating one of the characters in Tetro. Also, one of the characters in the movie has the same name as a character from Bolaño’s work.

Cortazar Suite
This suite acknowledges Julio Cortazar, an Argentinian writer who lived in Paris, Cuba and Chile for many years, as he did not agree with the Government in his country.
He is considered one of the most original and innovative authors from his time. He wrote novels and his works inspired many filmmakers.

Nieta’s Studio
This studio was Francis’s real workplace. Used to create and develop Tetro, recorded in Buenos Aires.

Charming and cozy environments

The property reflects the personality of Francis and his wife Eleanor, who hand-selected many of the decorations and amenities throughout the property. Be Jardín Escondido by Coppola offers three levels of beautifully terraced gardens to enjoy, featuring a swimming pool, barbeque area and a lending library with a variety of books and videos.

Terrace
The top of the house has a beautiful terrace surrounded by plants and herbs. A charming and welcoming environment where visitors may have meals, read a book or simply relax.

Library
The library has numerous stories from Latin American writers, as well as other titles, used by Coppola to develop his film, Tetro.

Video Library 
In addition to many films directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the video library offers several films that the Director received from Tetro’s casting participants.
